Basses

Mr. Dail Reed

About Me Info: (Scroll for Photos)

Dail Started playing bass in 1986 with a borrowed Fender Musicman and amp... with a couple of high school buddys.. playing punk rock & surf music, they called themselves the "Tallboys"  (interesting combo)

In 1989 or so he started playing musc with Ron & Chad Flory with the band "Rumplestiltskin" mustly classic rock / Jimmy Hendrix type stuff, we all shared an apartment in Greenville NC while going to ECU, playing local clubs and local festivals.

Sometime in the early 90's I got together with the guitarist from "The Tallboys" Shem Applegate and a few other musicians to form "Professor Peabody" we were a fun group that sounded like 10,000 Maniacs meets The Cult.

Around 1993 I briefly toured with "The Treehuggers" playing in retrospect was top 40 (we called it alternative back then) it just didn't have soul...

Sometime in the mid 90's I met up with an acoustic duo called Kozmo-Jive (Zach Meadows & Greg Keyzer) I started playing bass with them. We got Sam Lewis to sing and play trumpet/guitar with us... Sam Left the Band and we started playing Jazz...

Kozmo-Jive Became Sri-Bidi Just Zach, Greg & Dail.. Playing gigs around town at Ratty's or in Greenville at Peasants you can find some live show on www.archive.org look under etree and then find Sri-Bidi... then in the summer of 2002 Neil Venderick Joined us on Keyboards, that was a blast... Neil Left and then Greg left... that left Zach & I as just a rhythm section... Sri-Bidi had a gig in Greenville with no band... so we got Neil to join us for an all improve show and the W.O.M.B.A.T.S. were born

The W.O.M.B.A.T.S. were cutting edge and hard to describe, you can download there music on www.archive.org  as well.. a little over a year together and Neil moved to the big city of Raliegh NC.

Again Zach and I were just a Rhythm Section.. A local buisness wanted some Jazz music for a party and we Got Jon Johndrow to sit in and play some guitar... someone asked us what the name of the band was... Zach said "Were the Hanging Chads"  well it stuck. we didn't play any gigs for a long while and then we started to play together a bit more. Brady Butler had sat in with Zach's other Band "Jen and Tonic" so Zach invited him to play with us... it was good.. and so that's where we are today.. :)
